Double Fine on What Makes a Good Adventure Game

Double Fine has described how it analyzed both classic and modern adventure games in order to make Broken Age. In a panel titled "Rethinking a Classic Genre for the Modern Era" at GDC Next, Double Fine CEO Tim Schafer spoke along with lead programmer Oliver Franzke, producer and brand manager Greg Rice, and art director Lee Petty to explain how they arrived at the decision to make an adventure game and how they modernized the genre while keeping its classic roots.

Schafer began by recounting how Broken Age received $3.3 million in Kickstarter funding and how that changed the way development has progressed.
