Arrow: "League of Assassins" Review

After five episodes, I'm comfortable saying that Arrow is a fundamentally better show than it was in Season 1. The production values are better (thanks in part to all that blatant Microsoft product placement money). The acting and action choreography have risen to a higher standard. And the many conflicts and subplots are just all-around more engaging. "League of Assassins" delivered another winner for the series as it delved more deeply into Sara Lance and her connection to Ra's al Ghul's little club.

Initially, this episode seemed like it was going to be largely flashback-focused a la "The Odyssey" from Season 1. That would have been a welcome change of pace considering how the flashbacks seem to be relatively downplayed so far this season. This week's flashbacks included a re-shot version of the familiar scene of Sara being sucked into the ocean, followed by more of her being rescued by the crew of the Amazo and taken under Dr. Ivo's wing.
