With more devices flooring their way into our living rooms, it can be easy to become inundated with remotes. A universal remote can cut down on remote clutter while also making things more simple and intuitive. However, they can be expensive and there's some real duds out there, so we broke down the five best universal/smart remotes below.

Often considered the gold standard in universal remotes for years now, The Logitech Harmony One is the perfect example of when a universal remote becomes a smart remote. The Harmony One claims "endless entertainment control", which is something that it lives up to completely. Its biggest plus is the one-touch controls which allows you to program complex actions for the remote to execute with a simple press of the touch screen. If you want to play Xbox 360, one press of your remote can have everything setup without any additional input required. It can turn on your TV and audio receiver, select the proper inputs on both, and turn on your Xbox 360. It's brilliant and shines throughout.
