Dark Horse Brings Tomb Raider Back to Comics
Jan 31st 2013, 20:08

With the latest Tomb Raider adventure on the horizon, Dark Horse Comics and Crystal Dynamics are bringing Lara Croft back to another medium she knows all too well: comic books.

Tomb Raider: The Beginning is a prequel to the upcoming video game that will explore Lara's origins. Dark Horse says Tomb Raider: The Beginning "follows the story of how the crew came together for The Endurance's fateful mission to discover the lost Japanese kingdom of Yamatai. Originally intended to feature as the latest instalment of Dr. James Whitman's successful archaeology show, Whitman's World, the show-biz archaeologist gets more than he bargained for when he enlists the help of Captain Conrad Roth. As Roth's unique and eccentric crew gradually come together and share their stories and secrets, the expedition faces unexpected threats before it's even begun."

Kutcher Responds to jOBS Inaccuracy Claims
Jan 31st 2013, 19:38

After drawing criticism from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak last week, actors Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad have responded to claims that the forthcoming Steve Jobs biopic, jOBS, inaccurately depicts the duo's relationship. Speaking at the opening keynote to the MacWorld expo in San Francisco, Kutcher emphasized the balance between providing an accurate portrayal of their real-life counterparts, but also serving the larger narrative:

"We weren't there. And part of filmmaking is you have to make a narrative that plays. When you look at these earliest, intimate moments of the company, there was probably no one else there."

Resident Evil Will Return To Its Roots
Jan 31st 2013, 19:16

Capcom has listened to fan feedback following Resident Evil 6 and knows that the series must return to its roots going forward, even mentioning the possibility of a reboot.

These comments come from Capcom's Masachika Kawata, a long-term producer on the iconic survival horror series who spoke to IGN in London while discussing his latest project -- bringing last year's Nintendo 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations to Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PC.

"I think that it's important for us to have users' needs in mind when making the games," Kawata told IGN. "At the same time I think a lot of what people want now is to have Chris and Jill in a game, or they want it to look like Resident Evil used to look like. That's what makes the game work for them. We should be able to start from scratch and reboot it. It would still be Resident Evil. We wouldn't lose the essential nature of what makes it a good game just by changing the characters."

How Horrifying is Dead Space 3?
Jan 31st 2013, 17:39

Is Dead Space 3 horror or is it a straight-up shooter with elements of horror and some RPG-ish weapons-crafting thrown in?

This is the standard debate swirling around Dead Space 3, the question of whether or not developer Visceral and its overlords at EA have abandoned 'scary' in favor of 'shooty'; whether or not environments like wide open tundra are a betrayal of the game's dark-corridor roots.

New art released yesterday, from the book The Art of Dead Space, show the grand vistas that Visceral conceptualized early in the game's life.
