"The Perfect Mark" might not have packed the overall wallop that the last two episodes did, but it was still a solid episode - once again (for the third week in a row?) allowing the "Number of the Week" mission to dangerously crossover into a story having to do with the larger series mythology. In this case, like with "Разговор," the person Reese and Finch set out to save wound up being in the crosshairs of HR.

One of the joys of this chapter came from watching Mad Men's Aaron Staton outmaneuver half of New York as a "many irons in many fires" con man named Hayden who, for starters, used his upscale hypnotherapy practice to bust through his clients bank account security questions. Apart from that, he worked with cops (and with a British accent) conning marks out of cash, sending them screaming into a the night after a faking a double murder. So why did The Machine spit out his number? Because Hayden figured out HR's con involving laundering dirty money through an auction house, and looked to steal a large chunk of their dirty payroll.
