If you're a Star Wars fan, then you've probably heard whispers of what George Lucas' very first draft of the script was like. Dark Horse Comics has been given access to that script and writer J.W. Rinzler has turned it into a comic book so we can all see what might have been. This is an exhilarating concept, to put it mildly, but by the end of this first issue, it's clear to me why this was the rough draft and not the final product.

The story opens with that familiar wall of yellow text (use your imagination and it will slowly scroll upwards), which explains a story that's both familiar and alien. Part of what makes reading this issue interesting is discovering all of those similarities to the original trilogy, but the exercise quickly loses its novelty when the story's shortcomings begin to show.
