David Koechner is attending Fantastic Fest this week to promote his brilliant new movie Cheap Thrills, our review of which can be read here. And while he was in town, we grabbed a few words with him about Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, in which he reprises his role as colourful sports presenter Champ Kind.

Some of the jokes in the new film revolve around race. What are Champ's feelings on this subject?

Koechner: Champ is almost an innocent racist. He doesn't think about it. It wouldn't occur to him that he's being racist. Which may be worse. He's an uniformed racist. Or a casual racist. And he's a misogynist. And a horrible alcoholic. And he's also a homophobe who has latent tendencies.
