Grand Theft Auto Online will go live on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network at 4am Pacific / 7am Eastern / 12pm Greenwich Mean Time on October 1, Rockstar Games has confirmed to IGN.
The GTA 5 multiplayer add-on will come in the form of a Title Update on both platforms. Anyone who owns GTA 5 will be accessible via the game menu once the multiplayer game rolls out.
GTA Online, you may recall, takes place months before the in-game events of GTA 5's main story, and lets 16 players make a mess of Los Santos together with odd jobs, bounties, heists, sports, stick-ups, and, later in an update, in competitive games of Capture the Flag.
Rockstar anticipates that the first couple weeks will need tuning "as it goes from internal testing to the reality of being played by tons of people in the real world."
