Cheap Thrills is a deeply unpleasant yet strangely beguiling film. You'll frequently want to look away, but may well find it impossible to do so.
It's also a film that has much to say about greed, integrity, materialism, and the state of America today, all wrapped in a neat, deceptively simple morality tale.
It starts in a dark place, with mechanic Craig losing his job and minutes later finding an eviction notice on his house, which is no good to a man who is already struggling to provide for his wife and newborn baby.
Rather than head home to face the music however, he hits the first dive bar he passes to drown his sorrows. And there he bumps into Vince, a childhood skateboarding buddy who now makes his money as a debt collector.
