When the creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, introduced his newest project to the world – Mighty No. 9 – it was clear where his inspiration came from. Mighty No. 9 is essentially a Mega Man game, right down to its art style, non-linearity, and emphasis on earning the weapons of fallen enemies.
Then again, old-school Mega Man fans don't mind much. Capcom hasn't treated the franchise with care in the years since Mega Man 10, cancelling Mega Man Legends 3, Mega Man Universe, Mega Man Online, and even a Mega Man FPS called Maverick Hunter. They're now looking to the man who was initially behind the series to continue it, even in spiritual form.
