There are a lot of threats being thrown around in this second episode of Homeland's third season, and while the segment -- dubbed "Uh... Oh... Ah..." for reasons I'll get to soon -- is compelling enough, it also seems to be issuing a threat of its own: that the show could get mired in some been-there-done-that territory if the writers aren't careful.

Mostly this applies to Carrie's current predicament. She's flown over the cuckoo's nest again, due in no small part to her betrayal by her closest confidant, Saul. It remains difficult to digest why Saul would do what he did to her. I mean, I get that Carrie needed to be shut down once she went full-tilt wacko and started blabbing to the press, but his outing her to the Senate committee that started her (latest) spiral? Rough.
