I'm not going to lie, the first issue of this newly launched Powerpuff Girls series totally depressed me. Mojo Jojo has decided he wants to take Antidote X to revert back to a normal monkey so he will no longer remember how badly he's been beaten by the Powerpuff Girls. That's some heavy stuff for IDW to produce for children, and this issue only gets heavier when Mojo pretty much gets his last rights and then the gas chamber. Artist/writer Troy Little does a near-perfect job with the art and characterization, but all of this issue's fun moments are tinged with an unexpected existential sadness. Does that make it a bad comic book? Surprisingly, no.
