It's been a long time coming, but the newest film adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel Carrie is making its way into theaters this week, just in time for Halloween. It's got quite the legacy to live up to, considering the popularity of the original and how many other King adaptations that have appeared since.
King has been writing novels and short stories for several decades. At this point, it seems that just about every story (other than the elusive Dark Tower series) have been adapted for film or TV at least once. And unfortunately, there have been a lot of duds over the years. But that still leaves plenty of King adaptations worth watching, including popular dramas like Stand By Me, The Green Mile, Apt Pupil and The Shawshank Redemption, horror classics like The Shining, Misery, The Mist and cult-favorites like Creepshow, 1408, The Dead Zone and Pet Semetary. We've picked out our 12 favorite King films to celebrate the release of Carrie.
