Warning - Spoilers for all of AMC's The Walking Dead thus far...
With things getting totally out of hand, and zombies coming out of both ends, on this past Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead - "Infected" - I thought it'd be a good time to look back at some other harrowing undead-related close-calls that Rick and the survivors have experienced. No, not the moments when people actually did get bitten and torn apart. Those are shocking, for sure, but the real tense, ass-clenching moments come when a walker's gnashing teeth are just inches away from someone's face. And it looks like they're done for.
In "Infected," tons of people died in D Block after a zombie unexpectedly invaded their safe haven, causing more than a few close-calls for Rick and Daryl, who had to rush in and clear the area. Likewise, Michonne, for the first time, made what could have been a fatal mistake by heading back to the prison on horseback to help the people she now cares about. And with zombies climbing on top of her there was a moment, when she screamed out in pain, that we wondered if she'd actually been bit! Turns out she only crunched up her ankle, but the scene itself was nerve-racking. And don't get me started about the fence scene...
