This week's Sons of Anarchy spent most of its time on two main storylines, a structure that served the episode well, giving it a focused momentum. There were some quick detours along the way for a few business items with the Irish or to check-in with Nero, Roosevelt and Patterson, but the main thrust of the episode was centered on the guys helping Venus Van Dam and the revelation of Tara's grand plan.
Before getting to the action with Venus or Tara, some time was spent setting up a new location for the clubhouse. The salvaged table from the bombed out wreckage of Teller-Morrow and makeshift setup at the new place was a great visual for where things stood with the club. They were battered, but continuing on. Building on the positive notes of last week's episode when Bobby returned to the fold, the club voted to accept the three patches he brought with them, and also promoted Ratboy up from Prospect to be an official member. It was fun to watch poor Ratboy get put through the wringer before they let him off the hook and into the club. I wonder if this means we have to call him by his real name from now on? Skogstram doesn't quite roll off the tongue as easily as "Ratboy." These heartwarming moments of pure camaraderie have been few and far between recently; it was good to focus on it after the club had recently lost so much.
