Sleepy Hollow: "John Doe" Review

After last week's wonderfully bizarre hour incorporated the Boston Tea Party, evil Hessians, and a heartbroken OnStar representative into the episode's plot while moving the overall story forward, by comparison things slow down considerably in "John Doe." Which is not to say it's suddenly become a cookie-cutter procedural – Ichabod's knowledge of Middle English comes into play (and he's not even rusty!) while the creepy story of the lost colony of Roanoke is featured. So Sleepy Hollow remains an unusual show, even if this particular episode settles into a relatively familiar outbreak plot.

Things started strong with some striking imagery, as the demon looked like something out a Kurosawa film. We also had Ichabod and Abbie address a couple burning questions, specifically his living situation and his wardrobe. The cabin is a perfect fit for him after being gracefully introduced last week, and it appears that while Ichabod's look isn't going to change anytime soon it was a nice nod to anyone in the audience who might have been wondering about it.
