Movie Based on Raiders Fan Remake Going Ahead

Napoleon Dynamite producer Jeremy Coon is set to make a movie based on the two Mississippi kids who remade Raiders of the Lost Ark, shot for shot, over a seven year period in the '80s.

Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala began their passion project at age 11 in 1982, filming in their backyards and basements, and finished the remake in 1989 when they were both 18. Their homemade film became something of a cult classic, so much so that their story was later documented by author Alan Eisenstock in his book Raiders!, which Coon is now turning into a movie in its own right. For added meta, Coon will first direct a documentary about the boys (now in their 40s), which he will later turn into a feature film.
