Michael Raymond-James has taken Neal in an interesting direction over the past season, and any time he gets to be on screen with Robert Carlyle it's good for everyone. Watching Neal play the parent role and showing Rumplestiltskin the ropes around Neverland was a nice way to flop their relationship. It's smart to put them in a situation where they are working together and forced to put everything aside for the purpose of saving Henry.
I'm thankful the writers made Rumple's intentions crystal clear. You knew he wanted to save Henry, but you didn't know the lengths to which he was willing to go. And it didn't change when he learned Neal was alive. I can only hope they stick with Rumple's intentions of self-sacrifice until Henry is rescued or give a compelling reason for him to flip-flop. Given this show's past, I live in fear of the complete 180 degree turn in motivation and character.
