Most video games have at least one feature that make them worth playing or recommending, or something that they try to do that few other games do. Even a game that's mediocre at everything else can be playable and even memorable, as long as it has some sort of reason for being. What happens when a game possesses no special attributes, no features worth recommending? Legends Of Aethereus, an indie RPG from Three Gates, happens. There's nothing about it that's special, that makes it worth recommending. It's functional – it does all the things a game like it should do – but it defines "inessential."
