Ah, Wonderland. The place of whimsy, unlikely creatures, and the playpen of the intrepid Alice. The first clips shown from the Once Upon a Time spinoff, which debuts Thursday night, made me feel skeptical because the truth about beloved stories is that it can be hard to interpret them in the right way. Straight traditional style can be boring, but if you add too much of a twist or turn it the wrong way, it crosses the line into ridiculous. The asylum part in particular made me nervous. They've found a nice path for Wonderland though; it has homages to the Disney animated movie and the beautiful look of the Tim Burton live action film with more interesting characters and a promising plot.
