In Batman #24, writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo (almost) tie up the loose ends of the first story arc of Zero Year. The qualifier is made necessary by the storytelling strategy adopted in this jumbo-sized issue: as one mystery comes to an end, another one is only just beginning.
If you've been following the Zero Year series of reviews, then you know that I had my reservations about yet another origin story retelling. Batman has had more than his fair share in comics, movies, and TV, and the novelty had long since worn off the idea. That is, until Snyder and Capullo slapped on a new coat of polish and delivered one of the better explorations of Batman's early days that the character has seen in his long history.
