The Simpsons: Guillermo del Toro's Awesome Sequence

The Simpsons is airing their annual Treehouse of Horror episode this Sunday, and the show is kicking things off in a big way, with an opening credit sequence conceived by none other than Guillermo del Toro.

The director of Hellboy, Pacific Rim and much more goes big with the sequence. Running nearly three minutes long it takes the traditional Simpsons opening credits and turns them into a macabre journey through horror movie history, including a ton of familiar horror characters and creators - and even some nods to del Toro's own cinematic resume.

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXIV airs Sunday, October 6th on FOX.
