Warning: full episode spoilers follow.
You could be forgiven for thinking this week's Big Bang Theory was an early Valentine's Day episode. Romance was the name of the game, as Wolowitz's grand gesture to Bernadette prompted Leonard and Penny to reevaluate their own relationship. And as usual, Sheldon was wrapped up in his own problems. I'm disappointed we didn't get some sort of Halloween-themed plot this week (there's no new episode next week), but this wasn't a bad substitute, all things considered.
As expected given this show's minimal focus on continuity, "The Romance Resonance" didn't pick up where "The Workplace Proximity" left off. Amy and Sheldon were back to the usual status quo, with Sheldon being incredibly self-absorbed and Amy pluckily tolerating everything. But while it was disappointing not to see any carryover of their fighting from last week, at least Sheldon was given the rare opportunity to be humbled when his massive scientific breakthrough turned out to be a case of pure, dumb luck. He's a character that needs to be taken down a peg every now and then just for good form.
