Falling Skies: "Collateral Damage" Review

"Collateral Damage", the second hour of the Falling Skies season premiere doesn't quite carry the momentum of the first hour. While all the new series elements are still there, the by-the-numbers mission that Tom embarks on fails to excite and the family drama back home with Matt blowing up a house seems a little puerile. There is the creepy mystery that is Anne's baby but it hasn't amounted to much yet.

The main thrust of "Collateral Damage" was the plan to safely destroy a nearby nuclear power plant that is being used by the Espheni to fuel their various mechs. Through this we're introduced to Dr. Roger Kadar (Robert Sean Leonard), a nuclear physicist and agoraphobic. The plan itself is fairly by the numbers with Tom leading a team into the plant and Dr. Kadar providing the insight into how to safely destroy. The drama comes from Tom's plan to use Weaver's team as decoys.
