At first glance, the announcement of a Batman/Superman ongoing series doesn't sound like such big news. The two characters already dominate DC's publishing catalog in a way that would make even Wolverine and Spider-Man jealous. Do we really need a revival of the "World's Finest" team-up formula? However, it's important to note that few New 52 books have done a very good job of exploring the Batman/Superman dynamic so far. Even in Justice League, the two often read less like seasoned allies and friends and more like stiff colleagues who tolerate each other's presence only as long as duty demands. And the series also marks Greg Pak's grand debut on the New 52 stage, as well as Jae Lee's first non-Watchmen project since the relaunch started. There's still ground to cover with these two characters, and Batman/Superman #1 certainly sets off on the right foot.
