Futurama: "T: The Terrestrial" Review

Futurama has long been known for its parodies of various sci-fi franchises, but it's always a gamble when the show decides to dedicate an entire episode to one single property and run with it. In the case of this week's "T: The Terrestrial," we saw Fry assume the (reverse) role of E.T., and for the most part it worked.

But I think what really sold this arc was the incorporation of the fan-favorite Omicron Persei 8. The opening scene alone featuring a promo of the unremarkable 21st century program "The Finder Outer" was a strong way to start out the episode, and a nice frame of reference for reintroducing Lrrr. It was fun to see the alien overlord begrudgingly bond with his son Jrrr, as the pair visited Earth so Jrrr could earn his "Planetary Invasion" merit badge. I particularly enjoyed the exchange between Lrrr, Jrrr, President Nixon and Zapp Brannigan at the White House, and Lrrr prodding his son into taking a firmer stance to rule the planet. ("Don't look at me. You're invading him!")
