Marking director Paul Feig's follow-up to his blockbuster Bridesmaids, The Heat stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as the proverbial mismatched cops who go from antagonists to buddies. (Seriously, if you think that's a spoiler …) Outside of the fact that it stars two women, The Heat offers nothing new that other recent buddy cop movie send-ups/valentines haven't already done better and to death.

Straight-laced FBI agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is an uptight careerist who sees taking down a Boston crime ring as her chance at a big promotion. But, wouldn't you know it, her case collides with that of foul-mouthed, rough and tumble Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) who treats her boss (Thomas F. Wilson) as harshly as she does her suspects. After a series of clashes, Ashburn and Mullins realize, yes, they'll have to work together if they're going to take down the bad guys.
