One of the surprise reveals at E3 was Ubisoft's impressive demo of The Division, an online RPG set in the Tom Clancy universe. While the initial announcement of the game was one of the highlights of the show, we were curious why Ubisoft thinks now is the best time to expand the Clancy franchise. In an interview at E3, Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key explained.
"The Clancy universe is really rich," Key told IGN. "We have not been putting out as many Clancy titles as we have in the past, but we have experimented with the brand in HAWX and other games. We really like The Division's concept. We think it's great Clancy. The Massive guys have always wanted to do something persistent in the Clancy world. They've been talking about it for years, so I'm actually surprised that nobody made the connection before now."
