Warner Bros. is in final negotiations to acquire the movie rights to Encyclopedia Brown, based on the classic children's book series that began in 1963.
Encyclopedia Brown is the nickname given to Leroy Brown, a boy detective with a wide range of knowledge and a knack for solving crimes. The books also featured Encyclopedia's friend and "bodyguard" Sally Kimball, as well as the local bully Bugs Meany.
Hollywood has tried a few times to bring E.B. to the big screen, but with little success. THR reports that Roy Lee and Howard David Deutsch are producing this latest stab at a feature adaptation, with Warners VP of production Jesse Ehrman overseeing for the studio.
