Burn Notice: "Brothers in Arms" Review

Burn Notice had strong offering this week with "Brothers in Arms" - complete with a less infuriating Fi/Madeline side mission. The big moment here had to be Burke's death of course, unexpected in both its timing and nature. Burn Notice has always been a bit clumsy when it comes to dispatching "big bads" who they've invested a lot of time in, but Burke's death mostly felt right. In fact, it's surprising to write that considering the fact that they sort of revealed a new side of his character right before he went "boom."

So the idea of Burke being evil was sort of our presumption. Also egged on by the fact that the CIA called him a terrorist and Agent Strong has dedicated his life to figuring out his nefarious plots and plans. But Burke, at the end of the day, is just a really dedicated operative. The kind who takes his mission so seriously that he'll do whatever it takes, and sacrifice whoever it takes, to complete it. And the story last week was able to adeptly take Burke out of the "number one villain" position by revealing that he's just following orders. So now the question remains: Who is Sonia? And when Burke gave his life for her, telling Michael that "she's the key to your future?, did we get swerved? This was a rescue op. Is Burke, and his organization, trying to stop something bad from happening? Are they like that extreme counter-terrorist group led by John Travolta in Swordfish?
