Bethesda has confirmed that its recently announced Wolfenstein: The New Order will not include a multiplayer component.
Bucking the increasing convention of bolting a multiplayer mode to everything, especially first-person shooters, the publisher has revealed to Gamespot that MachineGames' Wolfenstein reimagining will be a strictly single-player only game.
Multiplayer featured in both 2009's poor-selling Wolfenstein and 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The multiplayer mode in the latter was very successful and spawned an exceedingly popular multiplayer-only sequel, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, in 2003.
