I think we can all agree that the 1990 Captain America movie is… not good. It does have bits and pieces of clever scenes, some decent performances, some fantastic actors, and a whole heaping of so-bad-it's-fun, but even then it's tough to endure.
A typical ten minutes of this movie goes something like this: giggling at the cheesy dialogue and special effects, shocked at the unapologetic darkness (machine gun slaughter), shocked at something resembling introspective character drama, giggling at the cheesy dialogue and special effects, then checking your watch with the horrific realization that you've still got over an hour to go.
But I'm guessing you know this already. If you're even reading this review, it's either because of morbid curiosity or fond memories of watching this movie as a kid. While the movie is worth a viewing just to satisfy curiosity, I'd be shocked if this Blu-ray ever entered your player beyond that initial viewing. The main problem is that the sole special feature on this Blu-ray is pretty bland, despite it being an all-new interview with director Albert Pyun and star Matt Salinger.
