This is a happy day for all of us Hannibal fans: NBC have renewed the series for Season 2!

's vision for a show that is richly textured, psychologically complex, and very compelling," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said. "There are many great stories still to be told."
Season 2 will again be comprised of thirteen episodes and NBC notes it "will air no earlier than midseason" - meaning it's possible it could air in the summer next year. Season 1 was initially likely to air in the summer itself, until Do No Harm's quick cancellation led to an earlier debut.
Hannibal has struggled in the ratings, but had some factors that helped it. Besides NBC's overall struggles frankly lowering the bar for success, Hannibal is an international co-production with far less of a financial risk for NBC. And while it's those live ratings that still bring in the most money, NBC notes in the press release for the renewal how the audience is notably larger when time shifting is taken into account, stating, "its 18-49 rating grows by 75% going from next-day 'live plus same day' ratings to 'live plus seven day' results."
