New Avengers continues to be the better of Jonathan Hickman's two Avengers titles by a wide margin, offering mystery, suspense, and a dash of dark humor. It only takes looking back at where the Illuminati started in issue #1 to see just how far they've come and, as Black Panther points out here, how far they've fallen. They face a threat that repulsor rays and stretchy arms are ill-suited to solve, making this a thinking man's book that forces the leaders of Marvel's superhero communities to test themselves in ways never seen before.
