Disney, Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have found their Pirates of the Caribbean 5 directors: the Kon-Tiki team of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
Deadline reports that a deal is about to be made that will have the pair coming aboard to prep the film for a late 2013 or early 2014 start.
So who are Rønning and Sandberg? They directed the Norwegian historical film about the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition, netting a Foreign Language Oscar nomination in the process. As Deadline points out, the film surely made them attractive to Disney as it proved that they know how to shoot on water and do a lot with not much money.
