The black and white photography in Nebraska paints a picture of midwestern suburbia with stark clarity. An aging ensemble shades the microcosm, revealing a foundation of faith, regret, and simple living.
It's a familiar world populated with familiar faces and their familiar problems. For his monochromatic father/son road trip movie, director Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants) pulls back his usual bite to probe the good at the center of every enigmatic person. The results are hushed and heartbreaking.
Woody Grant (Bruce Dern) just won a million dollars. All he has to do is get himself to Lincoln, Nebraska, home of Mega Sweepstakes Marketing, sign up for a few magazine subscriptions, and it's on to life as a millionaire.
