FIlmDistrict has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Christ the Lord, based on Anne Rice's best-selling novel Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt.
THR reports that Cyrus Nowrasteh will direct the film from a script that he and his wife Betsy Nowrasteh wrote. The story follows Jesus as a young boy, just as he begins to discover his true identity and purpose in life. With financing secured and a director set, the next step will be casting the young Jesus.
Hyde Park International will be handling the sale of foreign rights to the feature being produced by Chris Columbus' 1492 Pictures, along with Hyde Park Entertainment, CJ Entertainment and Ocean Blue Entertainment.
