EVE and Dust 514 Taken Offline by DDoS Attack

CCP Games has taken both EVE Online and Dust 514 offline after the games' Tranquility server was subjected to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

A post on EVE's Facebook page explains that "a significant and sustained" attack took place just after 2am GMT on June 2, resulting in the server cluster crashing. Though the games initially relaunched, the company has since made the decision to take servers offline while they investigate what happened.

"Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation," the post explains. "At 03:07 GMT, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while we put in place mitigation plans.
