Acclaimed British TV drama Downton Abbey has certainly made its mark as a pop culture phenomenon in recent years, and now the series may have received its biggest piece of exposure yet in Marvel's Iron Man 3.
In the film, Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan, Tony Stark's personal bodyguard, is a massive fan of Downton. (As Tony notes, "It's his favorite show.") But how exactly did the PBS series pop up in this summer's first big blockbuster?
Well according to Downton producer Gareth Neame, it was pretty simple. "They just approached us," he said. "
just said, 'We think the character should be watching Downton...' And we looked at the context and thought 'That's good. We'll do it.'"
