It's immensely gratifying to know that Locke and Key's end is shaping up to be just as amazing as its beginning, which was unforgettable to say the least. This final Omega arc has been a slow burn, but no longer. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez pull out all the stops as they deliver one massive dose of the book's signature element: horror. Pure horror.

You know how when watching most horror movies you shout at the characters on screen, telling them how stupid they are for going into dark rooms alone and that sort of thing? You won't be doing that here because Hill has his characters behaving as smartly and logically as possible, even in the face of extraordinary circumstances. That's a sign of how much the characters have grown. Yet even when it appears Tyler, Kinsey, and company have made a stride toward survival, Hill tosses in one clever and terrifying twist after another to swing the pendulum back in the opposite direction -- the direction of shadow monsters and demon-possessed little boys.
