No third-party game signifies the success – or lack thereof – of a handheld in Japan than Monster Hunter. The series has sold millions upon millions of copies on PlayStation Portable in Japan alone and was a major reason why PSP was a huge sales success. But when it was revealed that Monster Hunter would migrate to 3DS, it was expected to be a massive blow to PlayStation Vita in particular, as it continues to struggle to gain any sort of significant traction worldwide.
Well, Vita gamers, don't hold your breath for a Monster Hunter game on Sony's new handheld any time soon. At the Ask Capcom forum (as discovered by NeoGAF), Capcom's Associate Online/Community Specialist Yuri L. Araujo said that the company has "no plans for a PSVita Monster Hunter at the moment."
