Hemlock Grove: Season 1 Review

The next stage in Netflix's aggressive new move into original programming, Hemlock Grove -- which debuted its entire 13-episode season this past Friday -- goes for the genre audience, with a horror story about a small town where all sorts of strangeness is occurring.

Based on the book of the same name by Brian McGreevy (who developed the series alongside Lee Shipman), Hemlock Grove begins with the murder of a high school girl, but it's clear that her killer is not quite human. Soon, two teenagers, Roman Godfrey (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter (Landon Liboiron) find themselves investigating the murder, and discovering more of the town's secrets along the way… Starting with themselves. Peter is a werewolf you see, while Roman... Well, it's not quite clear what Roman is, but he has some very notable skills.
