Guardians of the Galaxy #2 Review

Guardians of the Galaxy #2 continues on with the same blockbuster action of the first issue, but this time with a contemplative flashback to add a bit of weight to the proceedings. I said that the #0.1 issue felt like Star Wars, but with these added scenes of intergalactic political debate, the series is starting to feel a bit more like Star Trek. But that's not a bad thing. Guardians of the Galaxy has the benefit of not being that widely known, so Brian Michael Bendis is taking his time re-introducing the characters and their cosmic trappings in a way that is easily digestible and, more importantly, a whole lot of krutaking fun.

Right off the bat, the immediate number one reason to buy this comic book is Rocket Raccoon. I love comics that make me laugh and boy does that little guy bring the funny. His new catchphrase -- "Blam! Murdered you." -- got exponentially funnier every time he said it, and then I found myself saying it after winning a match in Injustice or finishing a slice of pizza. Rocket Raccoon is the character we're all worried about making a successful transition from page to screen when the Guardians of the Galaxy movie comes out, but if the movie version is half as entertaining as Bendis' then everything will turn out aces.
