Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
The rogue of the week was pretty cool, the mission to retrieve a Mexican drug lord's briefcase not so much and there was so much talking about how everyone was feeling about everyone else I wondered at times if I was watching "Division, 90210." Ultimately though, "Aftermath" succeeded in large part because of Shane West's subtle and masterful performance as a man of action rendered suddenly impotent.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some soapy, angsty drama, but in addition to Michael and Nikita's arguments, we had Birkhoff dispensing advice (!?) to Alex, Ryan asking Alex about Michael and Nikita's relationship, Owen confronting Michael about his treatment of Nikita, and Alex and Nikita having a heart to heart. They were all nice scenes but having them all in the same episode felt like overkill, especially since the most effective moments were the wordless moments like when Nikita beamed proudly at Michael over his progress and Michael reacted by wincing.
