Surface Pro Owners Only Get 23GB of Usable Storage

Expectations, meet reality. Microsoft's highly anticipated Surface Pro goes on sale February 9th, but consumers will have to temper their expectations when it comes to the device's advertised storage. According to Engadget, the base model, advertised as having 64 GB of storage space, will have a mere 23 GB available for use, as the Windows 8 OS dominates a heavy portion of the device's internal memory. The 128 GB Surface Pro will only ship with 83 GB of available storage space, which is a marginal improvement from the 35% available on the base model, but still leaves something to be desired.

Anticipating customer furor over the disparity between available storage and advertised storage, Microsoft released the following statement:
