When it comes to television, I tend to shy away from the dime-a-dozen medical dramas. But that genre isn't nearly as played out in comics. And even if it were, A.J. Lieberman's darkly twisted spin in Harvest would be enough to capture my attention regardless. The fifth and final issue provides proper closure for Benjamin Dane's story while leaving ample room for a follow-up series down the road.

This issue doesn't exactly open quietly, as Dane is forced to perform a bullet extraction on his ailing body before jumping right back into the conflict with his former employers. Lieberman keeps the pace rocketing right along for a good many pages. There's a tense standoff, and in his own small way, Dane is able to redeem himself for the terrible things he's done over the course of the book. But this is a dark, pessimistic, noir-esque medical drama, and ultimately the conclusion to Dane's adventure is darer and more grim than that.
