The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Review

Blame Harry Potter. And Twilight, and Hunger Games, and the rest for the recent onslaught of film franchises based on Young Adult fiction books. With each successful film comes more, and the latest to cash in on the action is The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones.

The Mortal Instruments series features six novels in total, with five currently published and one still to come. Written by Cassandra Clare, the books quickly became popular amongst teenagers, so it wasn't long before Hollywood came a-knocking.

City of Bones is based on the first book in the series, and introduces us to the world of Clary Fray (Lily Collins). Clary begins, as many heroes of these stories do, as a normal teenager. Her friend Simon (Robert Sheehan) has an unrequited crush on her, and her mother Jocelyn (Lena Headey) is overprotective. It's a normal life, until Clary starts to see people and symbols that no one else can.
