With Ryan deciding to keep his distance from Jenna following her 30th birthday party, it had been a awhile since Ryan had seen either Jenna or Drew in any capacity. Between Anne's problems, Kristen's problems and Ryan's own problems with his dad, there wasn't much time to see what'd been happening on the other side of the fence. But if there's one thing that brings neighbors closer together, it's a good old fashioned neighborhood watch, and that was just the ticket for putting Ryan back in Jenna's court this week in "Herosim."

After several weeks of stories centered on Ryan's personal and family issues, it was a pleasure to see Jenna so prominently featured again in this week's episode, and with an intriguing storyline of her own. It was a bit curious that she had taken such an interest in home security, especially with Drew noting that recent break-ins had been occurring much farther away from their neighborhood. At the time, however, Ryan's reluctance to team up with Jenna made for some fun interplay, as did the brief addition of Alan, who tipped Ryan off to his own crush on Jenna.
