League of Legends' Security Compromised

A portion of North American League of Legends accounts were compromised, and NA players are required to change their passwords upon logging into the MOBA, according to Riot Games.

The compromised information consists of usernames, transaction records and email addresses. Passwords haven't been accessed, but players with weak passwords are vulnerable considering the obtained information. The affected players are currently being notified, and all players with weak passwords are required to update to stronger ones.

The investigation is ongoing, but the League of Legends team is promising updates to make accounts more secure in the future, including email verification and text or email confirmation following any account changes.
