Friday's D23 Expo was dedicated to Disney's three animated divisions: Pixar, Disney Animation Studios, and Disneytoon Studios. Disney's animation boss John Lasseter hosted the ceremonies, which saw footage screened, cast and crew appear, and announcements made for the Mouse House's upcoming toon efforts.
Even though Planes only hits theaters today, Lasseter touted the sequel Planes: Fire & Rescue to the assembled fans and press. Dane Cook, the voice of the crop duster Dusty, made an appearance along with the film's director, Bobs Gannaway, to screen the first ever footage from the forthcoming sequel. The movie, which opens July 18, 2014, is dedicated to firefighters, particularly those who battle wildfires. Lasseter and Gannaway announced that Modern Family's Julie Bowen will voice the role of Lil' Dipper, Dusty's biggest (and possibly most disturbed) fan.
